The Travel
The hills of Lonavala are absolutely mesmerising – the road to Lonavala is an odyssey in itself, where every turn unveils a new facet of nature’s beauty. Travelling by rail or road, the journey is exceptionally scenic, with mountains looming over you and tiny white waterfalls finding their way through the hills. As you pass by, you will notice that the mountains are layered with dark green vegetation, and a cloud seems to halt right at the mountaintop to take its much-needed rest.
A tourist destination, Lonavala also caters to your palate. Indeed, some of the most delectable street foods are found right here at various spots – there are even some legacy joints you must visit.

Street Food
Vada Pav – An iconic Indian burger with a fried spicy potato-filled dumpling, this is considered Maharashtra’s staple food. When in Lonavala, ask for the extra fried chillies at the stall.
Chikki – Another famous that found its way to people who have a sweet tooth but want to keep it healthy, the Chikki is primarily made up of jaggery, filled with peanuts. It is a nutritious supplement to the other chemical-based sweets available in the market. However, modern times have compelled various flavours, and you should consider exploring them.
Misal Pav – The spicy misal was birthed first in Kolhapur and slowly made its way to Pune and Lonavala. Nothing gets better than this Maharashtrian delicacy, a gravy served with local puffed bread for those who love spicy food.
Fudge – You can’t miss Noshir Cooper’s Fudge started eight decades ago – its myriad flavours draw thousands of visitors to Lonavala. Try the chocolate fudge and get transported to a fudgy-chocolaty world, which seems simple, homely yet bursts with taste.
Jelly Chocolate – A multi-coloured sugar treat; ask Gen Z, and they will remember this as their favourite childhood snack. Buy a pack and pop it into your mouth to savour its soft yet sugary texture – allow it to roll and enjoy the jelly.
