Essentials for a quick trip off busy work schedules – what to carry and what to avoid?

Date: 13th September, 2023

The many times you wanted to take a quick trip and get off your busy schedule at work! And the many times you have tried getting off your feet, planning, dropping, and then regretting! We know. More than the planning, packing essentials dissuade you from the actual travel. As much as you should know what to carry, you must also familiarise yourself with what to avoid (something that most others don’t tell you!).

Carry with you -
Basics – Don’t forget your travel documents. You need your identification, such as a passport or any photo ID. These are important when you have to show them at the reservation desk. In case of any loss, making digital copies and storing them on your mobile would be best.
Clothes – These can be highly confusing. But let’s be farsighted about your requirements. If you are hiking, take some active wear or workout apparel. Alternatively, if you are on leisure, take some casual and loose clothing with you, which will help you lounge around. Some versatile pieces can be mixed and matched to save on space. Always remember that weather-appropriate clothes are a must.
Medications, toiletries, and electronics – Essential medications and a first-aid kit must accompany your toiletries, including brush, paste, and other instant needs. These could contain safety pins as well. You should carry a universal adapter, a power bank, and other necessary electronics with your phone and laptop.
Water and snacks – If you are visiting a remote area, carrying enough water and snacks for the road is best. You should also be able to refill the water bottle along the way.

Avoid carrying with you –
Jewellery – Valuable items are best left at home – don’t carry them since there could be a risk of loss or theft. If accessories are really required, then you must opt for costume jewellery.
Overbooking – Your itinerary must have some room for relaxation. Overscheduling could only lead to exhaustion.
Too much cash – Cash requires storage, and with large amounts in your pocket, you risk losing them. Check for ATMs along the way.
Overpacking – One of the biggest mistakes of travel is packing too much. Resist the temptation of carrying your entire wardrobe and stick only to what you require.
